Me, Paulina, & Jesse. Taken by All Good Things Photography (Frankie is the BEST)

Thanks for joining me!

To start off, my name is Madeline Cepeda, Maddi for short. I’m 23 years old and born and raised in San Diego, CA. From a very young age, I have been wanting to get into making music, whether it was writing my own songs or covering songs from other artists. I grew up in a super musical family. My dad and brother both play guitar, they sing with my uncles and cousins who play guitar as well. I taught myself guitar at around 13 by learning “Crazier” by Taylor Swift. I saw the Hannah Montana movie and I knew I had to learn something. 4 chords later, and the rest is history. From 13 to about 18, I would perform around San Diego with my vocal coach. I’m forever grateful I got the opportunity to do so because it taught me to break out of my shell. I have performed the National Anthem, as well as originals and covers, all across San Diego, even in front of crowds of about 1,000+!

For awhile, I did let go of music. I didn’t touch my guitar, I barely wanted to sing, I never recorded myself singing. Luckily, I have the most amazing support system, led by my boyfriend of about 4 and a half years, Jesse, who kept encouraging me that I would find my way back into the music world. A few months after I turned 21, I had our beautiful baby girl, Paulina. She’s the main reason why music is coming back as such a strong presence in my life because I want her to grow up with music the way I did. Now, she loves to listen to me play guitar and she sings along with me and it’s the cutest. She is our absolute world, and I don’t even want to know where I would be without her. Of course, as someone who isn’t making all of their money off of music, I’m currently a server at a family-friendly restaurant. It’s fun and I’ve met some of my best friends there, but it’s not something I really want to do forever.

This is a dream. This is my dream. I have the same dream as I’m sure many others do. I may have given up for a while, but I have learned to never stop chasing the dream you want most. On this website, I will posting videos, recorded pieces, photos of gigs that I will hopefully have in the future. However, I can’t do any of that without your support. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey!
